Perfect wedding stationery wording (your complete guide)

WEDDING STATIONERY
WORDING GUIDE

Deciding how to word your wedding invitation can be a little overwhelming and a tad confusing. So to make things that little bit easier, we have compiled a selection of wording ideas to inspire you.

You can word your order completely as you wish – these are just starting points to get the creative juices flowing!

Please just be sure that you have included and double checked all the important information; venue, date, time, etc. You would be surprised how often the big details can be forgotten! Really think about the wording that you would like used prior to ordering, as changes to the artwork are time-consuming and cost you unnecessary pennies.

Please ensure your chosen wording has been fully checked for spelling errors and has capital letters in all the right places, even if the design you are ordering is in lower case. Strawberry Sorbet will not check your wording for spelling mistakes or incorrect punctuation.

WHAT SHOULD YOU INCLUDE?
the essential things not to forget

The most important thing to remember when writing your wording is that you get the main information across, so;

who

I know that sounds like an obvious one, but you would be surprised!

when

Another one that people occasionally forget to include! I would suggest including the year in the date of the wedding to avoid any confusion, but this is personal preference. (This can be either numerically, or if you’re aiming for a more formal style of wording, each word should be spelt out).

where

Are you having the reception in the same venue as the ceremony? If not, perhaps consider adding an information card to your order. You can then include the full address and postcodes on the particulars card, which will keep the invitation itself nice and neat and streamlined.

what

Are the guests going to be joining you for a wedding ceremony, a blessing or perhaps the reception? Guests also like to know if they are going to be fed (who doesn’t?), so adding a ‘followed by a reception’ or ‘dinner and dancing to follow’ is always a good idea (if they are invited along to this part of the celebration that is!)

You can pad all of this out in any way you like. Try not to cram too much onto what is quite a little piece of paper. Keep it concise, and try not to bombard your guests with too much information. Our invitations look so much nicer when there is a little white space around to make the design ‘flow’. If you have lots to say you could always consider adding additional information sheets to your order. This can be filled with information about the day such as; accommodation information, directions, and gift list details.

Please note that the nature of letterpress means we are not able to personalise the invitations with your guests names, but it is no problem to add a space, dotted or solid line to the invitations for you (or a calligrapher) to handwrite the names onto.
